Bank of evidence on false climate solutions

This toolkit was published by Friends of the Earth International.

What do ‘net zero’, ‘nature-based solutions’, carbon markets, offsetting, geoengineering all have in common? These are all false solutions to the climate crisis. Increasingly popular in national and global policy spaces, these schemes delay genuine climate action.

In this bank of evidence, divided in two parts, Friends of the Earth International has gathered articles, investigations and reports to serve as a tool for campaigning, advocacy and communications efforts to resist the advance of false climate solutions, and show their failure to truly address the climate crisis.

Part 1 covers ‘nature-based solutions’, including tree planting, REDD/+, soil carbon and farming offsets, while Part 2 covers geoengineering, including Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) and Direct Air Capture (and Storage) (DACCS).

The views and opinions expressed in the publication are those of the mentioned organisation and do not necessarily reflect the position of all Real Zero Europe members.
